Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately based on valid prescriptions.
- Review prescriptions for completeness, dosage accuracy, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Provide medication counseling to patients regarding dosage, administration, storage, and possible side effects.
- Maintain proper records of dispensing, controlled drugs, and narcotic medications as per statutory requirements.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of medicines in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor expiry dates and remove expired or damaged medicines from stock.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels and coordinate with the purchase department for replenishment.
- Receive, verify, and arrange medicines supplied by vendors.
- Participate in stock verification, cycle counts, and annual inventory audits.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, Pharmacy Act, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and hospital policies.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication-related queries.
- Report adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medication errors as per hospital protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy.
- Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of pharmacy reports.
- Assist in implementing quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Hospital Management. Job Specification Qualification
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) – Mandatory. Registration
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration. Experience
- Freshers or candidates with 1–5 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy are preferred. Skills Required
- Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, dosages, and dispensing practices.
- Knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and inventory management.
- Familiarity with NABH standards and statutory pharmacy regulations.
- Good communication and patient counseling skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and experience with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) or pharmacy software.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays.
